Mr. Cunningham graduated from Caledonian University with a BA (Hons) in European Business Studies. He worked for a financial institution for three years before completing his PGDE at University of Strathclyde and graduated in 2005. He began his teaching career at Hamilton Grammar in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, where he worked for 9 years before becoming Head of Department at Caldervale HS, North Lanarkshire, Scotland in 2014. Mr. Cunningham joined NAISHK in August 2018. He was appointed KS3 Co-ordinator in August 2020.
Throughout his career he has undertaken numerous development opportunities and has developed a particular interest in Assessment is for Learning, Visible Learning and Growth Mindset. He ensures that all pupils in his care feel nurtured, included, challenged and supported. He has high expectations of pupils and encourages them to be the best that they can be at all times. He creates lessons which are engaging, motivating and help pupils to develop the skills they will require for the future. He promotes a positive ethos of respect, understanding and compassion for others.
Out of school, he enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, camping, kayaking and paddle boarding.
