Tanzania 2019

True Global Citizens

Every year, our Year 12 students have the opportunity to join the Nord Anglia Education Global Campus Tanzania Expedition. This is a unique chance for BISH students to work alongside fellow students from other NAE schools across the globe, whilst making a lasting contribution to the local communities in the Arusha.

We are incredibly proud of the dedication and commitment of our students who take part in the Tanzania voluntary expedition alongside other Nord Anglia Education students from around the world.

25 students participated in this life-changing NAE Global Campus project.  Every one of our students worked really hard on their community projects: laying the foundations of a new school for children with special needs; completing work on the village goat shed;  and building wooden desks for the new school.

This is what makes true global citizens! What a unique opportunity to learn about sustainable development, make friends for life and develop the resilience and confidence to know that they can make a lasting impact on the local communities in the Arusha region.

The eight day expedition takes our students to the Arusha region of Tanzania. Here they follow in the footsteps of fellow Nord Anglia Education students from all over the world, who have taken part in previous expeditions, discovering the diverse and vibrant culture of Tanzania, whilst significantly contributing to the local communities.

This fantastic opportunity provides a real and life changing experience, equipping our students with essential skills and experiences that will be greatly advantageous in their future life, building confidence, independence and leadership skills. Our students work as part of a team managing their own time, developing resilience, persistence and resourcefulness.

In the run up to the expedition, students are responsible for fundraising for the service work they will carry out in Arusha. Raising money for the trip gives students ownership of the project as well as developing financial management skills.

This is a truly rewarding opportunity. Our students make a significant impact on improving the lives of others while strengthening their own personal leadership, flexible thinking and teamwork skills.
