The Primary Years Programme (PYP)
The IB Primary Years Programme provides the structure for your child's education from ages 3-11. It offers the first step in developing globally-minded confident learners.
This inquiry-based programme encourages your child to be an open-minded risk taker, while also being caring, reflective and knowledgeable. These characteristics, embodied in the IB Learner Profile, create an important foundation for the rest of the IB curriculum.
Age 3-5
The early years of the IB Primary Years Programme provides a strong educational pathway for your child. They will develop their:
- curiosity;
- exploration;
- questioning;
- thinking;
- enthusiasm for their surroundings.
Enhancing Your Child's Desire to Learn
Our approach to learning in the early years encourages learning that plays into the natural curiosity of a young child with the world around them. Our teachers are there to facilitate and shape that learning.
Combined with the IB Primary Years Programme, we embrace your child's natural need and desire to learn, and their innate creativity in doing so. At this stage we are focused on helping them learn to learn and love to learn instead of just acquiring knowledge of facts and skills.
Age 5-11
From ages 5-11 your child will expand their international education, still following the IB Primary Years Programme. A theme-based approach to learning will help them to understand how different subjects of study relate to each other and to their world.
The six themes of study are:
- Who we are;
- Where we are in place and time;
- How we express ourselves;
- How the world works;
- How we organise ourselves;
- Sharing the planet.
Through these six themes your child will develop skills, knowledge, and understanding of concepts and ideas in:
- Science;
- Arts;
- Mathematics;
- Social studies;
- Languages;
- Physical, social and personal education.
Through this exciting and challenging theme-based curriculum they will learn how to apply their learning to a range of novel situations.
