OUR A-LEVEL CURRICULUM

In sixth form, our students deep-dive into their chosen subjects. Your child will prepare for university by becoming a specialist in their fields – typically studying four AS-level subjects in Year 12 and three A-level subjects in Year 13.

Our curriculum is tailored to our students’ strengths and interests. We offer a broad selection of A-levels, including art, science, mathematics, PE, business, computer science, geography, history, English literature, economics, and psychology.

We know that selecting the right courses can feel daunting. We’ll help your child choose the subjects they enjoy, that play to their strengths and passions, and that ignite all the possibilities for their future.

DEVELOPING THE SKILLS TO SUCCEED

Although academic success is always important, we know that nurturing your child’s all-round development will unlock their full potential. We’ll encourage them to pursue their interests through trips and expeditions, service opportunities, and a huge range of after-school activities.

Our students showcase their confidence and courage by taking on leadership roles in and out of school, too. Our bespoke 'Eclipse' programme encourages them to take part in a range of experiences at sixth form, enhancing the soft skills demanded by today's employers.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

To enrol on our A-level programmes, your child will need to meet a few fundamental requirements. These are guidelines, and we review each student’s application on a case-by-case basis. Some subjects may be accessible to your child, even if they haven’t studied them before.
Our entry requirements:
  • Five IGCSEs at A+ to C (grade 9-4).
  • A minimum of grade B (grade 6) in the IGCSE subjects your child wants to take at A-level.
  • A+ (grade 9) in IGCSE maths to take the further maths A-level.

A CHOICE OF PATHWAYS

At A-level, your child can choose from three possible pathways, which vary by subject. Most of our students complete AS-levels in Year 12 before moving on to study A-levels in the same subject(s) in Year 13 (option 2).

If your child chooses a subject that’s externally examined at the end of Year 12, they’ll receive an AS-level grade that’s recorded on their university applications. If they select subjects that aren’t examined at AS-level, then the grades on their university applications will be based on our teachers’ expert predictions.

  • Option 1: Standalone AS-level programme (Year 12).
  • Option 2: AS-levels in Year 12 followed by A-levels in Year 13.
  • Option 3: Two-year A-level programme (students aren’t formally assessed in Year 12).
