About

Ms Townsend joined BSY in August 2017 as the Special Educational Needs and English as an Additional Language teacher for both primary and secondary students. Prior to this, she held the same position for three years at an international school in Doha, Qatar. Her previous fifteen years teaching experience was in England, predominantly at an independent preparatory boarding school, but also at an adult education college.

She has enjoyed the challenge of teaching and supporting students from a breadth of different nationalities, and a range of ages from Year 1 to Year 9 in their acquisition of the English language.

Since being in Yangon, Oriel has donated her spare time to teach both monks at a monastery downtown and volunteer teachers at a charitable school in an outer township. She loves music, and currently plays and sings in a Yangon based rock group.
