‘Where the Fairy Tales Are’ Once again, our Secondary students put on a magnificent performance and stunned the audience with their production of ‘Where the Fairy Tales Are’. The visually-stunning set, which involved months of preparation, made it hard to believe we were really still in Moscow. ‘Where the Fairy Tales Are’-where-the-fairy-tales-are-HERO_20191203 ISM secondary rodaction _3550 2

On the 3rd and 4th of December 2019, the International School of Moscow proudly presented ‘Where the Fairy Tales Are’, an adaptation of Sondheim’s ‘Into the Woods’.

Following on from the success of the previous year’s production of ‘Annie’ was always going to be a daunting task. Mr Burke and Mr Langford therefore decided to raise the bar even higher and gambled on putting on a very difficult musical. After much consideration, these two inspirational practitioners took the decision to believe that anything is possible.

When showtime arrived, the snow began to fall; the icing on the cake for what was a sold-out production. The Rublevo Theatre was transformed into a beautiful, mesmerising woodland. Combined with the underscore of the 15-strong orchestra and the elaborate light set-up and sound, it was clear for everyone to see all the hard work the backstage crew had done in order to bring the pages of the script to life.

Parents, peers, friends and family gathered at the Dom Kultury Rublevo Theatre for the highly-anticipated performances of the show.  It was promised to be a spectacle and that promise was certainly delivered. Both nights were explosive and the whole cast delivered two magnificent shows. The audience were astonished at the professionalism and magnitude of the piece, with some even comparing it to a production in London’s ‘West End’.

A big congratulations to all students of the cast and crew and a special thanks to Miss Bolshakova, Mr Branton, Mrs Healy, Mr Langford and Mr Burke for showing what can be achieved by working collaboratively to achieve one’s vision.
