Science stimulates and excites pupil’s curiosity about phenomena and events in the world around them. It also satisfies this curiosity with knowledge. As science links direct practical experience with ideas, it can engage learners at many levels.
The school offers modern and well-equipped laboratories enabling the department to focus as much as possible on learning through investigation and experimentation. Pupils are encouraged to develop their knowledge, skills and most importantly to enjoy their science to develop a lifelong interest in science.
The science department follows the English National Curriculum at Key Stage Three and where appropriate enhances the curriculum to further challenge pupils, encouraging scientific curiosity, skills and understanding. This enhancement will be provided through quality lesson planning and choosing interesting and fun assignments and practical investigations for pupils to complete.
It is the department’s aim to give its pupils the confidence to explore Science with a real interest and hopefully create some of the world’s future scientists.
