As Term 2 comes to a close, we want to thank all parents for their participation and enthusiasm during Sports Week. Not even the rainy weather could dampen our school spirit as all year groups successfully finished their athletic events. We will soon be sharing some outstanding photos from the full five days of sports from Primary and Secondary Schools.
In addition we finished photographing all year groups and sports teams in Cooper Hall so we wish to thank all teachers, staff and volunteers for making this happen. Pret a Portrait will contact all families directly with colour proofs of all photos, both individual and class shots.
Last Friday we held our Secondary School Disco where the DCA organised beverages and snacks and we even had a photo booth where students could disguise themselves in a variety of wigs, hats and masks! The event was a huge success and enabled the Secondary School to make a donation to one of our school charities: Riding for the Disabled. A big thank you to all parents and staff members who helped out during this event.
Brief reminder about the results of our Parent Satisfaction Survey, a survey which enables us to create a thorough development plan for our school. We would like to invite all parents to a DCIS Principal Presentation on the Parent Satisfaction Survey on Wednesday, 3rd May from 8:45am – 9.30am in Cooper Hall.
This final week of Term 2 includes non uniform day (and DCA-led used uniform collection), Easter bonnets for Nursery through Year 2 and our Primary School Easter Assembly.

45 Year Celebration
This year DCIS will be celebrating 45 years of education excellence here in Singapore. We will be holding a week long event the week of 8th May, with ceremonies, a time capsule, songs and ending up on Friday with a huge birthday cake to close out the festivities. Our planning committee is busy working on all the particulars so we will be communicating the full schedule at a later date.

Please note that we have sent out the full list of ECAs on offer for Term 3. Online sign-ups will run from Thursday 12th April through Friday 21st April. Please make sure to read the instructions with the Quick Start guide and if you have any questions please contact activities@dovercourt.edu.sg.

Library Volunteers
With the arrival and implementation of our Guided Reading Scheme in the primary school, we are currently looking to recruit volunteers to help in the lower primary library with returning the books to the shelves. If you are able to offer a regular 30 mins once per week, just after morning drop off or before pick up at the end of the afternoon, then we would be delighted to hear from you. Interested parties should email Mrs Sawhney, our lower primary librarian, with the following information:
- Your name
- Contact number
- The day you are available
- Time of day you are able to help (morning or afternoon)
Mrs Sawhney will be in touch and will provide guidance and training for volunteers. She can be contacted at the following email address: Rachna.sawhney@dovercourt.eu.sg
All volunteers also need to undergo our Child Protection training and sign our Code of Conduct for Volunteers. If you have not done so then please contact Elin Tan at the following email address: Elin.Tan@dovercourt.edu.sg

UPCOMING DATES AND DEADLINE
- 7th April – DCIS Global Challenge Deadline
- 2nd May – deadline for the Superhero Challenge (please see the Global Library section below for more information)
CREATIVE WRITING COMPETITION – Results are in! The judges have been busy deciding the winners and highly commended entries of the competition. EXPEDITIONS - Our Alpine Adventurers began their training last week by climbing up and down 40 flights of stairs at a local HDB (first thing on a Monday morning)! Good luck with the rest of your training!
GLOBAL LIBRARY - Students from Nord Anglia International School Hong Kong have challenged the Global Campus to create a superhero to represent their city and help the world reach the UN Global Goals. Students need to draw and describe a superhero of their own, scan it, and upload it to the Padlet on the “My Brother is a Superhero” page on the Global Library section of Global Campus Online. The closing date is 2nd of May and winners will receive a signed copy of one of David Solomon’s books.
LEGO CHALLENGE - The third Lego Challenge will launch this month in April. Good luck to all our ‘Master builders’
VIRTUAL CHOIR - The recordings for participating schools have arrived and they are amazing! Thank you to everyone who took part in this. Jack plans to finish his editorial work in May and we look forward to sharing the video with you then.
Have a great week all and a wonderful end of term break. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any queries you may have, and keep in contact! We love to see and hear what you have been up to with the Global Campus.
