Louise has been teaching for over 30 years now. Her roles have been diverse and they have helped her to be a flexible practitioner. She has been a Class teacher at a small Primary School in Scotland and at a variety of international schools overseas. She diversified from class teaching to working as a Learning Support teacher. She juggled having two young children with becoming Head of Learning Support at a British Curriculum Primary School in Dubai and completing her Masters Degree. She is still trying to work out how she did it! Subsequently she worked as an employee of the Dubai Government at a prestigious all boys school.
As well as shaping the minds of influential Emiratis, she also worked in the Primary and Secondary Schools and she proved to herself that teaching Reception and Year 10 consecutively was challenging, but possible.
After the hectic lifestyle of the Middle East, she moved with her family to Ascension Island. While her husband worked at the school , she became a columnist and editor of the local paper, The Islander. She also worked for the conservation society protecting endemic plants.
Most recently, she has spent three years in Saigon working as a Learning Support Teacher. She was able to pursue her love of phonics teaching and phonemic awareness, whilst her daughter completed her IB and her son his IGCSEs.
At home Louise loves to cook and get involved with art activities. She is looking forward to trying the local delicacies and to reading again for pleasure now that her teenagers, Sophie and Jaimie are continuing their studies overseas.
