For the exit point of their Space Explorers topic, 5DH were asked to create a rockets for their Project Work homework.

The brief for the homework was to consider the science behind flight – a lot of the children talked about thrust, aerodynamics and lift in their presentations. They were also asked to show their planning (any design ideas, photos of the creation stage and a record of improvements). They were asked to consider the design of the rocket and trying to reach a decent height too. There were a range of methods used such as a water system, using an air pump and solutions of vinegar and baking soda too.

The children planned and created launchable rockets, competing for who could launch them the highest. We launched them with mixed results!
