Ms Pippa Smart

Philippa Smart

Assistant Head of Primary - Community

Pippa has a BSc from the University of Leeds in Sports Science and Physiology, and completed her PGCE at the University of Hertfordshire.

Pippa started her teaching career in Hertfordshire before moving on to teaching in a challenging and diverse inner-London school in Camden. During that time Pippa became an SLE (Specialist Leader of Education) in Maths, which was awarded by the Department for Education.

She collaborated on a number of published think pieces about the teaching of mathematics with the Camden Teaching Alliance. In 2017, Pippa moved to St Albans as a Deputy Head Teacher. During her time as a senior leader, Pippa developed policies to improve teaching and learning and assessment. She also continued to support newly qualified teachers and students in developing their teaching of mathematics.

Pippa believes that the opportunity to influence and shape young minds is a privilege and is truly passionate about teaching. She aims to create an inclusive and nurturing environment where children feel confident to take risks in their learning, and are inspired to become life-long learners.

Pippa and her husband, John, moved to Singapore in 2018, and love travelling in their spare time. They are often found walking around the MacRitchie Reservoir or running by the Singapore river. Pippa enjoys Yoga, cooking and reading.
