Caroline Doyle

Caroline Doyle

Teacher Librarian - Upper Primary and Secondary Library

Caroline qualified with an honours degree in Psychology from the University of Stirling,
Scotland. The following year, she completed a PGCE at Manchester Metropolitan University,
where her focus was on teaching English. Since then, she has taught in the UK as well as in
Singapore.

Caroline’s true passion is engaging children with reading; her knowledge of quality children’s literature is extensive, crossing topics, cultures and experiences. Her most commonly used phrase, “I have a book for that!” led to a colleague once describing Caroline as the Mary Poppins of books - she has a bagful of books for all occasions!’  Through her enthusiasm and knowledge, she hopes to encourage and inspire children to pick up a book and develop a sense of reading for pleasure.

Caroline has been a classroom teacher for almost twenty years. Throughout her career, she has taken a keen interest in all aspects of literacy. In her previous roles, Caroline has led the teaching of English throughout schools, which has involved her running countless reading projects. Her role in the library at Dover Court is not only to teach library skills, but also to support and inspire every child to read, as well as supporting secondary students with  research, study skills and accurate referencing skills. She is also passionate about working
closely with the primary and secondary teachers to ensure literature used for lessons is
engaging and accessible to bring learning to life.

Outside of school, Caroline enjoys spending time with her young son and her brother and his
family, who also live in Singapore.  They enjoy swimming and of course, reading!
