Staff Profile: Suzanne Fernandez-Pellon

Suzanne Fernandez-Pellon

Primary Cover Teacher

Suzanne has an MA in Teaching from Dominican University, a Masters in Business from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor of Science from the Illinois State University.

Suzanne's interest in teaching began when she started coaching competitive cheerleading in the United States. She enjoyed being a positive role model and helping children achieve their goals. After five years of working as a coach, personal trainer and fitness instructor, she decided to return to school for her Master’s degree in Education.

Given her interest for languages and working with children from diverse backgrounds, she focused her studies on bilingual education and ESL. Over the past five years, Suzanne has taught in international and public schools in Mexico and Chicago, and has spent summers volunteering in India and Venezuela.

Originally, Suzanne came to Singapore as a literacy teacher for an enrichment centre. This was an insightful experience as she was able to learn about the Singapore education system and work with various ages and abilities. She was then offered a position at Dover Court and feels incredibly fortunate to have found this school, and she values the strong community feeling amongst the staff, children and parents.

Suzanne absolutely loves the outdoors and relishes any adventure that comes her way. She especially enjoys hiking, biking and running. Other interests include travelling and learning languages, yoga and meditation, cooking, watching movies, and anything involving animals.
