After graduating, Alexis taught Year 2 at a school in West Sussex. She brought fresh creative ideas to the school including ‘Discovery Maths’ which encourages the children to independently discover and explore the mathematical world around them, and ‘Infant Explorer’ week where the children were able to ‘travel’ to different countries, learn languages, mapping skills and even taste the food. Alexis also took on many roles including; Geography Co-ordinator, productions director and mentor to trainee teachers, along with running a variety of extra-curricular clubs.
Alexis’s main priority is immersing the children in their learning by making it fun. She believes that by stimulating a love of learning she can steer children to become independent life-long learners. Alexis is a highly ambitious, committed and skilled teacher who creates a calm and engaging environment where curiosity can thrive. Alexis’s interests lie in art, music, drama and sport. She regularly incorporates these creative interests into her lessons and through this has seen the positive impact on the progress of her children.
Outside school, Alexis enjoys travelling, keeping fit and reading. She is delighted to be working at DCIS and is thoroughly enjoying the opportunities available to her.
