Staff Profile: Angela Hay

Angela Hay

Year 1 Class Teacher (1/2AH) and EAL Primary Coordinator

Angela graduated with a BA Honours degree in English from Manchester Metropolitan University.  She obtained the CELTA, CELTYL and DELTA over the course of several years in conjunction with the University of Cambridge. Following that, she completed her PGCE at the University of Derby. She has been teaching for fourteen years.

Angela’s interest in teaching abroad initially arose out of her time studying at university in Paris on the Erasmus Programme. Upon graduating in English, she returned to college to earn her Certificate in English Language Teaching (CELTA). She then taught English in Japan, Italy and Germany, and English for Academic Purposes at the University of Nottingham in the summers between posts. In 2006, she started working for the British Council, teaching in Turkey, Hong Kong and Qatar.

In 2011 Angela returned to England and, following the arrival of her son, she completed her PGCE and went on to teach Year 6 until she made the move to Singapore. For Angela, teaching EAL at Dover Court is an exciting opportunity for her to utilise her range of experiences and qualifications in an international school context.

In her spare time, Angela loves spending time with her family and her son. She also likes reading and yoga.
