Staff Profile: Sarah-Jane Smith

Sarah-Jane Smith

Year 1 Class Teacher (1SJS) and Year 1 Group Leader

Sarah-Jane initially studied in NUI Maynooth and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Irish and Geography before completing a Higher Diploma in Primary Education from Trinity College Dublin.

Having received her teaching qualifications Sarah Jane was delighted to start her first job in a wonderful school in Templeogue, Dublin. There she taught 2nd class (Year 3) for four years where she had the responsibility of preparing the children for their First Holy Communion. She also helped co-ordinate the Green-Schools Committee within the school where the school was awarded a Green Flag and acknowledged for its efforts to both help and improve the environment.

Next, Sarah-Jane decided to broaden her horizons further and move to Dubai. There she spent two years teaching Foundation Stage 2 at the Dubai British School (DBS). While at DBS she was part of the Foundation Stage team where they received ‘Outstanding’ during their Ofsted inspection. She thoroughly enjoyed meeting many wonderful children and families from all over the world at DBS, and it was lovely to be recognised for the wonderful teamwork the school had to offer.

Sarah-Jane was sad to leave Dubai but jumped at the prospect of moving to Singapore. She feels lucky to be here and is embracing all opportunities working abroad has to offer.

Since leaving rainy Ireland, Sarah-Jane has developed a passion and love for travelling. She loves learning about different cultures and living in Singapore has offered many wonderful opportunities to explore and see lots of beautiful countries. Sarah-Jane enjoys keeping fit, trying new classes in the gym each week and has recently tried yoga.
