Laura’s teaching career began in an inner-city school in London where she taught Business to students from Year 9 to Year 13. This is where she developed a passion for inclusive education and supporting all students regardless of their educational background and life circumstances. This philosophy underpins her drive to ensure that all learners in her classroom and school community have ambitious goals and believe that they can achieve highly.
Laura has been the only subject specialist for Business at her previous school and built up the GCSE and Vocational qualifications from scratch. She is dedicated to vocational learning, and believes that a hands-on approach to learning and making lessons interactive for learners is key to developing life long skills and learning habits. In her second year of teaching she went on to become a Curriculum Leader for Human Sciences managing Business as well as Sociology, Psychology, Child Development and Health and Social Care at both Key Stage 4 and 5. She then took on a Pastoral role as a Head of Year within Key Stage 3 and 4 which she enjoyed for two years before moving to Singapore.
Ever the foodie, outside of school Laura can be found exploring restaurants and cafes, sampling local delicacies and getting involved in cooking classes. Having lived abroad when she was younger, Laura loves travel and is always looking for somewhere new to discover. She also enjoys reading, and likes to combine her passions by getting stuck into a novel on the beach (...not too far away from the nearest eatery!).
