Maxwell completed a BA (Hons) degree in Business and a Postgraduate Certificate in Sport from Leeds Metropolitan University. He gained Qualified Teacher Status in 2010 and has also completed a Certificate in Personal, Health, Social and Citizenship Education from the University of Roehampton. Prior to moving out to Singapore Maxwell has completed the Aspiring Special Schools Leaders Program.
Maxwell gained his love for teaching through his previous career as a Rugby Union player where he had the opportunity to coach in local schools. Following this he took the decision to train as a teacher and has spent the majority of his teaching career working in special needs education focusing on learners with social, emotional and mental health needs. Maxwell believes in a holistic approach to education and enjoys helping students develop socially as well as academically.
As a school boy Maxwell gained international caps playing rugby for Wales and then went on to play in both Premiership and Championship squads on leaving school as well as representing Yorkshire numerous times winning the County Championship in 2008.
Outside of work he enjoys weight training and occasionally takes part in strongman competitions. Maxwell loves to travel and makes the most of to the opportunity to explore Asia.
