Anne Ryder

Anne Ryder

Secondary School Art and Design & Technology Teacher

Anne grew up in Manchester and completed her degree in Three Dimensional Design, specialising in Metal work and Jewellery at Sheffield University, the old heart of the steel industry in the UK. She stayed in Sheffield to complete her teaching qualification and moved to Kent to start her teaching career.

Anne has taught in various schools in Kent and Oxfordshire, spending a number of years at a military sponsored boarding school where she was involved with overseas expeditions, adventure training and running the Navy Section of the Combined Cadet Force. She has taught Art, Design & Technology and Engineering and has introduced STEAM projects and visits into the curriculum. Anne enjoys seeing creativity and skills develop in young people inside and out of the classroom and likes to use projects to teach about environmental and sustainability issues.

Anne spends her own time making, painting and fixing things. Her hobbies also include rowing, climbing and walking, having completed the North Downs Way, scrambles in Snowdonia National Park and treks in Borneo and the Himalayas.
