Amelia Nesbitt

Amelia Nesbitt

Secondary School Head of English

Amelia holds a First Class Honours degree in Law from Northumbria University, England. She went on to complete her English teaching qualification through the Teach First Leadership Programme.

Before teaching in Singapore, Amelia taught in a school near Newcastle, England for two years. Amelia’s personal goal was to motivate pupils that were underachieving and encourage them to be aspirational. Her classroom is a nurturing environment that focuses on a child’s individuality.  Throughout Amelia’s teaching career, her ‘can-do’ attitude has allowed her to assist in the school choir, drama productions, managing debate groups and mentoring trainee teachers.

Amelia relocated to Singapore in July 2017 and has been teaching English language and literature at Dover Court since 2018.

Amelia encourages pupils to be independent and reflective learners in order to help them reach their full potential. She loves to integrate drama into her lessons to increase understanding of literary texts.

Outside of school, Amelia loves nothing more than visiting other countries; she is forever trying to explore destinations that are on her never-ending list! Beyond that, Amelia enjoys scuba diving, musical theatre and finding culinary delights.
