Rachel started her teaching career in a Secondary school in a tough and challenging London borough and have since taught at a number of both Secondary and Middle schools in the home-county areas holding a variety of positions.
Within the first three years of teaching she became a Lead Practitioner of Teaching and Learning in French, then an Assistant Year Leader and finally went onto become a Head of Learning, Aspiration and Achievement as part of the Lead Team at the school, tasked with improving all areas within an assigned year group. There were many aspects to the role including such moving the school’s teaching from Satisfactory to Outstanding, mentoring newly qualified teachers in order to best support them as well as liasing with many outside agencies to support the well-being and care of students. The role allowed Rachel to really get involved with the pastoral side of teaching and learning and making a difference to many students, both inside and outside the classroom.
Working in a number of UK schools gave Rachel valuable experience of working with students from all backgrounds as well as those with more complicated social, emotional and behavioural learning needs. At Dover Court Rachel has been part of the Learning Support team for the past year supporting students in both Literacy skills and 1:1 support in a variety of areas.
Teaching in a multicultural and multinational environment such as Dover Court is something that she finds extremely rewarding. Rachel has a passion for travelling, language-learning and travel photography, although this particular hobby is still a work in progress!
