David Short

David Short

Secondary School Science Teacher, Form Tutor 7DS

David graduated from Cardiff University with a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and a Master’s in Chemistry. He then worked in research and the pharmaceutical industry before completing a PGCE in Science teaching with a specialism in Chemistry at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

David taught in comprehensive schools in South Wales for four years, taking on various roles including Head of the Chemistry Department and supporting student teachers.

During his teaching career, David has always included practical activities at the core of his teaching, as he feels that these enhance students’ understanding of science. David finds great satisfaction from watching his students develop as scientists with many going on to pursue careers in science and medicine.

Away from teaching, David enjoys visiting new countries and has travelled extensively in Latin America and South East Asia. He often combines his travels with a love of scuba diving, and is a qualified rescue diver.
