James Ford

Dover Court International School Singapore James Ford Year 3 teacher

Year 3 Class Teacher (3JF)

James graduated from Chester University with a BSc in Sports and Exercise Sciences. Following this, he went on to complete a PGCE in Primary Teaching, specialising in PE at the University of Southampton.

It was whilst studying Sport and Exercise Sciences at Chester University that James developed a love for teaching Physical Education to primary students. Following his graduation, he decided to pursue the teaching route, moving to Southampton where he trained in Primary Teaching and was awarded a PGCE with a PE Specialism.

Prior to joining Dover Court, James taught as a class teacher initially in Southampton. Following this, he made the exciting move to develop his teaching career overseas, working initially at another international school in Singapore.

Over his time as a teacher he has gained a wealth of experience, teaching in both Key Stages 1 and 2. James’ teaching philosophy is centred around the belief that students should be encouraged to take ownership for their learning experiences, developing independence and a love of learning as they do so. James is also passionate about creating a welcoming, inclusive environment in which children feel supported and inspired.

Outside of school, James enjoys travelling and immersing himself in new cultures. He engages in sport, most notably football, and exercises socially with his friends throughout the week. James has a love for a wide range of musical genres and enjoys attending festivals and concerts. He is also a keen reader of fiction novels and autobiographies.
