After completing a Music BA (Honours) degree at the University of Leeds, Rebecca spent some time travelling. Having experienced working with young children, a visit to a local primary school in Fiji confirmed her decision to become a primary school teacher. Although her experience working with young children ranged from running music clubs to camp counselling at an American summer camp, she wanted to gain skills in a primary school setting. Before studying for a PGCE in the UK, Rebecca spent a year working with EAL students, supporting their development and understanding of the English language. In 2010 she took up her first teaching post at a school in Brackley, in the UK. During this time she gained invaluable experience of teaching children with a range of needs and held the responsibility of Music Coordinator.
After visiting Singapore, Rebecca researched teaching opportunities there and became interested in Dover Court because of its unique model of supportive education. In 2014 she took up her first teaching post at DCIS and over recent years has become increasingly involved in the Pathways classes. Rebecca was appointed Primary Pathway 3 Leader in 2017 and has been proud to share the school’s inclusive practices with other Nord Anglia schools within the region.
From a young age Rebecca started playing the cello and saxophone, and most recently she has been teaching herself to play the ukulele. She currently plays the saxophone in the Thomson Community Club Swing Band and enjoys performing in concerts at the Botanic Gardens. As well as playing music, she enjoys listening to live bands and going to the theatre. Rebecca also loves to travel and takes advantage of having so many wonderful places to visit right on her doorstep.
