This week at Tu Xuong Campus, our students have been embarking on The BIG Draw! The World’s biggest drawing festival!
At the British International School HCMC, we strongly believe that there is no limit to what our students can achieve. So we take every opportunity to encourage them to be ambitious. To step outside their comfort zones and try something new.
This week at Tu Xuong Campus, our students have been embarking on The BIG Draw! The World’s biggest drawing festival! The Big Draw aims to get everyone drawing by breaking down barriers and helping people of all ages enjoy its benefits.
'We live in a verbal culture where we think words are important and drawings are merely decorative. But there are hundreds of things for which drawing is wonderfully economical and efficient. It's much easier for most of us to draw the way a deckchair works than to explain it in words.'
The Big Draw Patron Quentin Blake.
As a part of the week’s festivities, we welcomed FRENEMY aka Kristopher Kotcher to work with the children on developing their imagination and creativity. Kristopher is a freelance illustrator and street artist from Austin, Texas currently living in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. His work is regularly influenced by the Children's books and cartoons he loved as a child, and he is currently working on his own children’s book. He also finds inspiration from graffiti, street art, and skateboarding.
During his extraordinary workshop he encouraged the children to realise that “you don’t have to be an artist to be creative. Whatever it is that you are doing it’s important to be creative with it!”
A message that is strongly supported by The Big Draw philosophy:
During The BIG Draw week, children are being encouraged to use surfaces arranged by Miss. Charlie, our Art Specialist, to doodle on all around school. There are chalk boards in the foyer, and large pieces of paper taped to floors and walls for the children to explore their creativity on. The space is an inspiring one, thanks to the hard work and dedication of Miss. Charlie.
