A Busy Week Full of Learning at TX

Dear Parents,

It has been a busy working week at TX, with all the ingredients that make up the all-round learning that happens at BIS.  I have seen some amazing instructional writing from the children in Year 2 who have been explaining how to catch the ogre that has been on the loose, our girls basketball team did very well narrowly losing in the semi-final of the city wide tournament, we have had a visit from our community partners at Poussieres de Vie… I could go on for a long time.  Please check the class blogs to get a flavour of the variety of activities that go to make up great learning.

PE News

The week was rounded off with a fantastic assembly led by two of our EAL teachers; Ms Heather and Ms Jane.  Everyone from F3 to Year 6 was invited to recite a poem.  The children could choose to perform in pairs or groups, and representatives from each year then recited their poems in front of the whole school this morning.  Speaking and listening continues to be a central part of all we do as it is the foundation for reading and writing.  Well done to everyone who recited their poem today!

Upcoming Events

It has also been a week of planning for upcoming events starting this weekend.  It would be great to see the entire TX community taking part in these events:

 Family Morning

Terry Fox Run

The BIS community has supported this event for a number of years and hopefully we will see a big turn out on Sunday morning in District 7. For those not familiar with the story of Terry Fox and the purpose of the run, please take a moment to watch the video below.

MP2 Production

The children in Milepost 2 have been working hard learning lines, singing songs and practising dance moves in preparation for next week’s production of Cinderella and Rockerfella.  If the rehearsals are anything to go by it will be a fantastic show, so make sure you are in the Sports Hall on Thursday 3rd December at 6.00pm.  You really don’t want to miss it.

Christmas Bazaar

This Sunday is the first Sunday in advent.  Christmas is approaching and for BIS it means time for the annual Christmas BISzaar.  There will be plenty of opportunities to buy presents for friends and family, to enjoy musical performances and don't miss out on the chance of winning one of the many raffle prizes.  Tickets for the raffle can be bought from Ms Emma in the office.

The TXhibition

We are very fortunate to have had Ms Charlie working with us at TX this term.  Her enthusiasm for all things art has certainly rubbed off on the children and from the 7th to the 11th December, the TXhibition will be in the foyer. As well as being able to enjoy the artwork,  there will be opportunities to come along and get creative with Ms Charlie and the children.

Term 2 Club Sign-Up

Ms Emma has been busy putting together the club schedule for Term 2.  Club sign-up will begin at 4.00pm on Monday 7th December. For more information, please click on the link.

International Celebration Photos

Following on from last week’s International Celebration, we have created a folder full of photographs.  We created our own photo-booth and the photos are arranged by year group to make it easy for you to find and download the photos of your children.
