Mr Simon Higham - Weekly Update 11th September 2015

11 September 2015

Dear Parents
It is my pleasure in providing you with a this week's update regarding what has been happening at An Phu Primary Campus this week and providing you with important information about what is planned for the forthcoming weeks.
Last Sunday, the  sign up began for our Parents' Meetings next Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th September. Please ensure that you sign up for an appointment to see your child's classteacher and their specialist teachers on either of the two days. The sign up continues until 12.00pm on Monday 14th September and all information can be found by accessing the letters in the following links: Parent Evening Letter      (Vietnamese translation)     (Korean translation)
I look forward to seeing all parents at school next week, allowing you an early opportunity to talk about the year ahead with your child's class and specialist teachers.

Settling In Workshop

It was lovely to see so many new parents attending our Settling In Workshop on Tuesday. I hope that you found this session with myself, our admissions team and school counsellor useful, in helping to ensure that the transition between schools, countries and cultures are as smooth as possible. The full presentation from this workshop can be found here. All parents may also find the work on Third Culture Kids by Ruth Van Reken useful too. Please note that previous workshop resources can also be found on the BIS HUB under the 'Parent's Information' tab.

Year 1 - Who am I?

This week it was the turn of our Year 1 classes to showcase what has been happening across their classrooms. Have a look at how they have settled into their new classes and begun their IPC topic 'Who Am I?'

Enquiry Update

Across the campus, we have all been focusing upon developing our skills of Enquiry. It's been lovely to see how many children have been awarded stickers for being enquiring learners this week based upon the following outstanding learning statements:

  • I am a brave talker

  • I ask relevant questions and talk confidently about new ideas

  • I choose how to research new ideas

  • I am willing to try new things

These statements help our children understand how to be an outstanding enquirer. Why not ask your child how they have been a brave talker this week!

Extra Curricular Clubs

Thank you to all parents who have used our CHQ system to select club preferences for the Term 1 programme. All of the randomised selections have been made by CHQ and you can now view your child's approved clubs by logging into the CHQ homepage and looking for the box named; My Activities - 2015-2016 Term 1. All payments for paid clubs must be made to the AP1 Cashier before the programme begins on Monday 21st September.

Community Clubs

Did you know that Community Service Clubs are in addition to your club allowance? That means that even if you have already signed up for your clubs, you can ADD a Community Service Club as a bonus - every Community Service Club is FREE! Have a look at the different Community Clubs that are on offer. Next week, contact Ms Duyen in the Main Office to sign up.

Updated Swipe Cards

Thank you to all parents who have collected their new swipe cards this week. Please note that old swipe cards can still be exchanged for new ones from the Main Office from Monday 14th to Friday 18th September. Please note that all old swipe cards will be automatically deactivated (you will no longer be able to enter the Campus using them) on Monday 21st September.
