More from Book Week at APP

03 October 2016

Last week, in Primary, we celebrated the written word, and leapt at the chance to escape to imaginary places through the writing of others. At An Phu Primary, Book Week involved a wide range of activities.

  • EYFS Fashion Parade

During Book Week at An Phu Primary we held a book fair in the library, facilitated buddy class reading, spent time reading with and talking to visiting authors from the UK and some students were even asked to make their very own books.

All of the week’s activities culminated in a fantastic Friday morning dressed as our favourite characters from our favourite books! (There is a link to the pictures at the bottom of the page!)

Buddy Reading

Last week, year 6 and year 1 celebrated book week by reading together!  It was fantastic to see the year 6 children acting with maturity, reading to and communicating different elements of their books to their younger peers.  And the year 1 class seemed to really enjoy being read to!

Take a look at the video of the event:  Next stop, Milan, Paris or London!

EYFS Fashion Parade

F3 children showed courage and confidence today as they took to the red carpet. They had an audience of a year 6 class, but this did not phase them. Costumes varied from superheroes, princesses, pirates and many more. It was great to see a lot of Roald Dahl characters, as this year marks the 100 years since his birth.  F3 staff had prepared a talk 4 writing story of “The Enormous Turnip” that they acted out for the children. It was fantastic to see some children trying out the actions. Seeing everyone having fun was great and capitulated the spirit of book week.
