Nord Anglia Regional Child Protection and Safeguarding Conference

21 November 2017

Along with Health and Safety, Child Protection and Safeguarding is the number one priority for our community here at The British International School, Ho Chi Minh City. Ensuring the health and well-being of students, staff and parents is key to a happy and successful school.

  • Safeguarding Conference 17-4158-min

To this end we were delighted to host the Nord Anglia Regional Child Protection and Safeguarding conference over 3 days last week. With 45 delegates from every Nord Anglia school in the region, the conference allowed us to focus on issues that face our children and staff on a daily basis and equipped us with the training to deal with more challenging situations should they arise.

Barry Armstrong, Assistant Director and Head of Safeguarding from Nord Anglia led the training. Barry was assisted by Inderjit Dehal Director of Professional Development for Nord Anglia and Katie Rigg and Jane Foster from ‘Farrers’ Law firm in London who specialise in Child Protection and Safeguarding cases.

We looked at safer recruitment practices, safeguarding children in schools, training for leaders to train their own staff and evaluating our own practice to identify next steps in ensuring that we are doing all we can to safeguard our schools.

This event was just one of the many ways we ensure the safety of our students.  Other ways include annual Child Protection and Safeguarding training for all staff including all extra-curricular providers and adults that come on site to work with students. We are committed to the highest standards of education, not just academically but in all matters relating to your child’s health and wellbeing.
