What a great final week of term we have had, with the excitement for learning stronger than ever.

Mr Simon Higham: Weekly Update 31/03/2017 What a great final week of term we have had, with the excitement for learning stronger than ever.

What a great final week of term we have had, with the excitement for learning stronger than ever.

Congratulations to our secondary colleagues in the Drama department for their amazing performance of Beauty and the Beast. Our primary audiences loved the experience of seeing their secondary peers in such an accomplished performance – what a show!

BandB

Thank you to the parents who attended this week’s parent meetings. With your continued partnership, you can be assured that your children are receiving a very unique and effective education at BIS HCMC, making academic progress, fostering independent and higher order thinking skills and having a great time in their overall learning experiences.

As you look through the many events that have taken place this week, take time to think how these have (or will have) positively influenced your child’s learning.

Health Week

Health Day 6

Last Friday, all of our children worked together to reinforce the important message that a healthy body is a healthy mind. In this post by Ms Marion Sands, Year 5 Class Teacher and PSHE Leader, read about the kind of events that took place during the day and take a look at the fabulous video that was taken using the school drone – impressive as well as healthy!

BIS HCMC proudly welcomes Nicole Jeong – Alumna of The Juilliard School

Nicole Jeong

We are very excited to announce that on Friday, 21st April we will welcome an accomplished Juilliard violinist, Nicole Jeong, to our school.  This is one of the many benefits of The Juilliard-Nord Anglia Performing Arts Programme where our students and teachers are provided with a unique opportunity to engage with Juilliard alumni and Juilliard-affiliated artists.

Nicole Jeong was born in Korea, achieved her bachelor’s degree at Ewha Women’s University, completed her doctorate at SUNY Stony Brook under the tutelage of Philip Setze and Soovin Kim and has earned her master’s degree from The Juilliard School.  She has a passion for chamber music, is an Ackerman chamber music prize winner and has collaborated with numerous composers and performed with a variety of ensembles in the US, Korea and Asia. Ms Jeong resided in New York for 14 years, before recently relocating to Jakarta.

Ms Jeong will be able to use her extensive experience to inspire our students with master classes at both Primary and Secondary campuses. Parents will also have the opportunity to hear her perform, as she has graciously agreed to do a late afternoon performance in the An Phu Secondary Campus Auditorium for interested students and parents.  We look forward to welcoming Ms. Jeong to BIS HCMC.

Staying Safe

Stay safe

I would like to remind all parents that when entering the school site, swipe cards must be worn at all times. The reason for this is for us to identify all adults who are on site. Those with blue lanyards are parents/carers, whilst those with red lanyards are visitors.

If you require a blue lanyard, these are available from the main office.

As always, we would like to thank you all for your support in keeping our school environment safe.

If, during your visit to school, you have any reason to be concerned about the safety of a young person, please contact the Designated Safeguarding Person (Ms Dee Grimshaw) or the Head teacher (Mr Simon Higham)

Please note that CCTV cameras are in operation at all times across the campus.
