Applications are invited from enthusiastic, qualified and experienced teachers. A minimum of three years recent experience of teaching Mandarin to GCSE/IGCSE and either A level or the IB Diploma programme is essential. The Chinese Department is a part of a very vibrant and creative MFL Department at BIS, where French and Spanish are also offered to students. Collaboration and cooperation amongst students and staff are key to its success. The teaching of Chinese takes place in purpose built classrooms which were fully renovated last year to include the very latest learning technology and student furniture. Lessons are lively and communicative. Teachers use a significant amount of the target language and students are very responsive and open to using foreign languages. The Chinese department works in line with other Modern Foreign Languages in the school. Students tend to opt for a language in Primary years and continue on with this language into Year 7 and beyond.
