A short but eventful week as we enjoyed the Tet Celebrations here at the Junior Campus.

Tet Picture PTG (002)

At this extremely important time of the year in Vietnam, we are delighted that our Teaching Assistants bring this important festival to life for our students. More information can be found about the brilliant assembly on Tuesday and our fabulous Tet Fair that took place today in the post below but suffice to say, it was one of the best Tet assemblies I have ever seen!  How lucky we are to have such dedicated staff supporting our learning.

We took the opportunity this week to thank all our local staff for their time and effort in looking after our school and wish them a very happy Tet holiday with their families.  Our thanks to the PTG reps, Nicky, Nandini and Eng Wan that also joined us to thank these wonderful staff members.

On Monday our amazing Mathematicians returned triumphant! Read more about their fantastic achievements further on.

I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of all the staff here at the Junior Campus to wish all our families and BIS Community, a wonderful Tet holiday.  We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday 13th February when we return to school.  Chúc mừng năm mới!

Primary FOBISIA Maths Competition

Primary FOBISIA Maths 2019 - BIS HCMC

We also welcomed back 5 heroes, 4 students and 1 teacher, to school on Monday after our Primary Maths Team returned victorious from Brunei where they finished in the top place at the FOBISIA Primary Maths Competition in Brunei.  This is the 2nd year in a row they have done this, a staggering achievement, unheard of before now.  Read more about this wonderful event in this post by their accompanying teacher, a very proud Mr John Handscombe.

Reminders...

School Identification Badges

With so much happening across the three campuses, we see an increase in parents and visitors on site and as such we need to be more vigilant about campus security both during the school day and at weekends.  We would like to remind all parents that school identification badges must be worn, even on the weekends when attending school activities.  If not, you will be asked for some form of identity and asked to wear a visitor’s badge.

If you are sending a nanny or driver, please ensure they have the school identity lanyard or some form of identity card. We thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students and school site safe and secure.

Managing our Traffic Together

Drivers Code of Conduct

For more information about how we can work together to improve traffic around our campuses, please access this post.

Stay Vigilant

As in all major cities petty crime does occur, as a reminder to all of us please always take care of your personal belongings, especially when walking across roads and along the pavements. This is particularly important in the coming weeks as we approach Tet.

Safeguarding at school – it’s everyone’s responsibility

Photographs

It is every parent’s wish to capture memorable moments on camera of their child at school either performing in an assembly, on their birthday or simply playing with their friends on the playground before the start of the school day.  Any photos that are taken by parents on personal devices must be kept private.  They must not be shared publicly on social media or between non-family members such as other parents in the school.  By following these guidelines, we ensure our BIS safeguarding policy is adhered to and that our children are kept safe.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Child Protection

If, during your visit to school, you have any reason to be concerned about the safety of a young person, please contact the Designated Safeguarding Person.

Please note that CCTV cameras are in operation at all times across the campus.

Finally,

A reminder that photos take place the week beginning Monday 18th February.  There are some sibling slots available.  The link is available in the letter that was sent earlier this week.

Have a wonderful and relaxing weekend ahead.
