PROSPECTIVE FAMILIES OPEN HOUSE
Windermere Preparatory High School Teachers Amanda Youngblood, Kelly Borrowman, and Dr. Brenda Fields spoke at the Future of Educational Technology Conference here in Orlando about their experiences as teachers in the Blended Cohort Program at Windermere Preparatory School (WPS).
This is the first year for the Blended Cohort Program at WPS. The cohort is a 12-week program where teachers at WPS learn how to design and to develop their blended learning course.
Blended learning is the combination of face-to-face instruction with digital content and activities. As we continue to see an increase in the use of technology in the classroom, the key element is not what is being used, but how it is being used. Quality instruction is, and will always be, the key to student success. Blended learning is the latest buzz word that is quickly becoming the "what." Our students participate in live blended learning in all aspects of their lives, whether they are searching the web for information on music they enjoy, or learning to code through Minecraft, our students are learning in ways we could have never imagined ten years ago.
As it is our job to teach our students the best ways to learn and to apply various techniques, we applaud our teachers for taking the lead on this session and for inspiring this quality of education and learning in others using WPS as such a prime successful example!
