Windermere Preparatory School is proud to announce that Seventh Grader Kaylan Patel has won the 2019 Florida State Geography Bee for the second year in a row! Congratulations to our Laker, Kaylan, on his back to back state titles naming him the Florida State Champion for 2018 and 2019. Kaylan competed against over 600,000 students from the state of Florida to win the state championship on April 5, 2019 in Jacksonville, Florida. Only one student from each state goes on to compete in the National Championship. Windermere Preparatory School and the state of Florida will be cheering for Kaylan in the National Geographic Bee competition in May 2019.

The National Geographic Bee is an annual competition organized by the National Geographic Society, designed to inspire and reward students' curiosity about the world. Students in grades four through eight (4-8) from 10,000 schools across the United States, will compete in the 2019 National Geographic Bee for a chance to win college scholarships and the glory of being the National Geographic Bee Champion. The 54 winners of the GeoBee State Competition will advance to the national championships at National Geographic Society headquarters in Washington, D.C., from May 19 to 22, 2019.
