Windermere Prep's Lower School is Reading with Pets

Windermere Prep's Lower School is Reading with Pets Last week, Eve (the dog in the picture) was in our Lower School as part of the Reading With Pets program.

Last week, Eve (the dog in the picture) was in our Lower School as part of the Reading With Pets program.  Windermere Prep is in partnership with Advent Health to deliver this program to our students in PK3-Grade 3. The Advent Health film team filmed Mrs. Griffiths' class with Robin Lemuix R.N. and her Golden Retriever Eve. The video will loop in the Advent Health employee TV circulation. Research shows that reading to pets can help kids with the development of reading skills. The presence of the dog takes away performance pressure, adds support, and gives students the supervised reading practice needed to build vocabulary, increase reading comprehension, and gain fluency with their reading. This program is now in its third year at our school and we are thrilled with its success.
