Principal's Message - 17th February

  • secondary

For years children have debated whether wearing a uniform is a good thing or a bad thing. Here at NAIS we absolutely support not only wearing a school uniform but wearing it with pride. Wearing a uniform brings a sense of belonging and buying into the values of an organisation. It is a mark of respect and creates an identity, showing that you care about the way you are presented and feel part of a much bigger picture. As a school we have been taking a close look at standards of uniform and dress, raising the profile of this notion of pride and respect. We have been highlighting and rewarding students who always, without fail, arrive smartly presented with all of the required equipment, organised and ready for the day ahead. You will be hearing more on this in the coming weeks through our pastoral teams and respective leaders, but it would help us greatly if you took the time to review in your child’s learning journal how they should be dressed. Please check before they leave the house whether are they properly attired including whether they have got the right shoes on. This notion of belonging to something bigger is integral to who we are as a school, not only do our students represent you, their families, but also here at school. They belong not just to our Pudong family, but to our global family of NAE students.

Next week our students will feel the power of belonging to a global family as throughout the school a variety of global challenges take place. Our secondary STEAM day focuses on a challenge set by UNICEF asking Nord Anglia students to raise awareness of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and to work with their local communities to create solutions for these global issues.  Our vocalists will also be coming together to play their part in the Juilliard Virtual Choir Challenge.
