Overview of next week’s learning

In Literacy the children will begin to become more familiar with the characters of the Oxford Reading Tree and will begin to explore stories without words in order to develop their understanding and comprehension of stories. The children will be given opportunities to make up their own stories to these picture books.

In phonics the children will continue learning new letter sounds, focusing on recalling a letter and its associated sounds, as well as playing games that support the segmenting and blending words, for example playing Please Mr Crocodile, or Metal Mike Bingo.

Our focus for maths will be shapes and their different properties, introducing new vocabulary such as, sides, corners, round and curved. The children will go on shape walks around the school and take photographs of the different shapes they find to be used as discussion points in later activities.
