Having completed a BA (English) with majors in Psychology and Linguistics, Kelly was originally interested in pursuing a career in research. After voluntary work at BISS Puxi in 2016, however, Kelly fell in love with the idea of teaching. Deciding to make Shanghai her permanent home the same year, she has since worked at BISS gaining invaluable experience across EYFS and Key Stage 2. Having originally worked as a 1:1 learning support teacher focusing on social and behavioural development, Kelly later focused on academic interventions with children.
Being a person who loves change, Kelly decided that after two and a half years she was ready for a fresh start and transferred to class teacher. Her aims include boosting the basics and creating an encouraging learning environment. Kelly is incredibly excited for this new adventure and looks forward to instilling a love of school in her Cubs.
When Kelly is not working, you will often find her drinking coffee with a good friend or a good book. Kelly also enjoys music, teaching ballet, going to the theatre, and cuddles from her two dogs. Being South African, Kelly has an adventurous side to her. This is evident when she is skiing in Austria, snorkelling in Palau, or hiking in Australia.
