Dear Parents,

I would like to wish you all a very happy and healthy 2019!

It was lovely to see our students return on Monday, smiling and refreshed after the holidays. I would also like to extend a special welcome to all the new students who arrived this week. Newcomers included those from Australia, France and Singapore.

Teachers returned last week, ahead of students in order to benefit from 2 days of professional development. Ms Carol Satterthwaite, our guest presenter from the UK, spent time with our Primary Department. The training built on good practice using Talk for Writing as a way to structure writing and learn new vocabulary. In Secondary, many sessions were held with a focus on our drive to continually improve teaching and learning for our students.

Our campus was also busy over the holidays as BIS Hanoi hosted the annual South East Asia Nord Anglia Education Administration Conference. Approximately 100 managers of departments such as Information Technology, Marketing, Finance, Facilities and Business took part in a collaboration and sharing of good practice.

It was great to welcome parents for parent and teacher consultations on Tuesday and Thursday this week. Parent social events will be advertised soon including a chance to sign up for a Tet experience trip to the Old Quarter, take Vietnamese lessons and parent yoga sessions.
