This year has seen many more students using the Global Campus website and engaging with the varied activities there.

While working at home, students joined in with making musical instruments from household objects, baking bread, choreographing and recording their own dances, expressing their views on student activism and tackling the many books in the global library. We even have teams of staff, students and family groups who have taken on the virtual challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. At 93,000 steps AND 1,900 floors this has been no easy feat!

A big part of the Global Campus in the Secondary school is that students in Year 9, 10 and 12 get to take part in an expedition to Tanzania. Our group of students worked hard to fundraise for the charity we support in Tanzania, with many sales of snacks and drinks, colouring books and lots more events planned. Unfortunately, we could not go to Tanzania as the trip was to have been in March. But this did not stop two of our Year 10 students fundraising another 12 million VND for charity by organising and hosting their own event.

A big event for us at BIS Hanoi in Term One was when we celebrated World Children’s Day. We had a dress-in-blue day and an amazing assembly that will go down in memory. The assembly started with a powerful song from our Year 10 students, featured guest speakers from Blue Dragon and was co-hosted by our fantastic UNICEF ambassadors. Ha Minh and Sung Woo have been very effective in their roles this year and are now ready to hand over the role to Suh Jin (Angela) and Thu An.

Well done to everyone who has made our school a more globally-minded place to be!
