Dear Parents,
At BIS Hanoi, we are proud of the standards that we set ourselves, across all aspects of school life. We are proud of our academic outcomes – our IGCSE and IB results this year were the best they have ever been and reflect an upward trend that has seen improvements year on year. In our Primary school, academic standards show a pattern of improvement. We are proud of our success in providing outstanding learning experiences to our students, our recent focus on teachers observing their peers shows that students are consistently receiving excellent teaching across all subject areas. We are also proud of our school systems and processes which ensure everyone in school is kept safe, potential risks are mitigated and our environment is healthy.
This week, we had the opportunity to evaluate ourselves against a rigorous set of health and safety standards, and to be objectively evaluated by colleagues from our Nord Anglia Education Regional Team. Over two days, all aspects of our school health and safety policy and practice were scrutinised in detail, processes were thoroughly checked, and procedures were examined. I am pleased to inform you that BIS Hanoi received tremendous praise for the work we have done and the standards that we achieve across all aspects of health and safety. From our risk assessments, through emergency evacuation, laboratory safety, school security, our clinics to cleaning and maintenance, our staff strive for and achieve excellence.
School meals
At the start of this school year, Joma became our school meal provider. As well as running the popular coffee shop in the foyer, Joma provide break time snacks and lunches for our students and staff. We have been impressed with the quality of the food served at every meal. Meals are well balanced and nutritious, and importantly, are tasty and appeal to our ever hungry students! We have closely monitored the new menus, and recently sought feedback from students and staff about the meals they are offered. The responses were overwhelmingly positive, but we analysed the data carefully and have made some slight adjustments. For example, the range of vegan and vegetarian options has been expanded in response to the feedback received. Joma are working closely with us to ensure every meal served is of the highest quality. You can read more about their operation here.
We have had an action-packed agenda of inter-house activities, Christmas performances from Foundation Stage and Year 1, and today we had our Principal’s Award Assembly for the whole school.
I hope you have all had a good week and are beginning to get into the festive spirit ahead of the holiday season.
Thank you to all families who joined us to be entertained with our Secondary theatre production of A Little Shop of Horrors this week.
From Sunday onwards, we have had our CIS/WASC visiting team here at school. This has been a great opportunity to share all the wonderful things that we are providing for our students across all sections and to gain further insight and ideas to help us improve even further.
