Academic excellence

We know that students who are engaged, motivated, and love what they do will flourish. At BISB, 96% of our parents say their child is happy – and this is reflected in the outstanding results they achieve.

In 2022, 100% of our students passed the IBDP, achieving an average score of 35.8 – four points above the global average. A remarkable 27% got 40 points or more, placing them among the top achievers in the world. Our IGCSE results are similarly impressive; 58% of our students got A* to A grades, significantly higher than the world average.

Respected worldwide, our curriculum pathways – which see our students progress from the English National Curriculum through to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) – provide high-quality routes to higher education across the globe. Every one of our 2022 graduates was accepted by their first-choice university, including Oxford, Cambridge, the London School of Economics, and ETH Zurich.

As well as getting great results, your child will benefit from teaching that’s tailored to their specific goals, talents, and interests. Immersive learning experiences – in and beyond the classroom – will help them to become a well-rounded, socially responsible global citizen.

World's best teachers

Our teachers are among the very best in the world. Every day, they challenge, engage, and inspire our students to achieve more than they ever imagined possible – both in and beyond the classroom.

Inclusive and nurturing, our exceptional educators will make sure your child is safe and supported, too. Our parents strongly agree: 94% say their child has a good relationship with and is motivated by their teachers.

The scale of Nord Anglia Education (NAE) allows us to attract and retain the very best global teachers. Each member of our team is carefully chosen; they hold UK qualified teacher status or equivalent and have a wealth of experience in British and international schools. Many have Master’s degrees and NAE leadership qualifications, too.

Our teachers are fully invested in each student’s learning journey. In small class sizes, they’ll really get to know your child, adapting learning to their passions and future aspirations. Here, every lesson is packed with opportunities that spark creative thinking, ignite imaginations, and encourage problem solving.

We also ensure that learning is accessible to everyone. Our dedicated English as an Additional Language (EAL) team and specialist learning assistants provide tailored support to students with additional educational needs.

To maintain the highest possible standards, our teachers take part in regular, reflective performance reviews. Accreditations with renowned institutions like the International Baccalaureate Organisation – in tandem with training on the award-winning Nord Anglia University platform – ensure our teachers are at the cutting-edge of their profession.

Exceptional learning experiences

At BISB, your child will fall in love with learning. Some of their most memorable experiences will stem from immersive activities that deepen their knowledge, increase their understanding of the world, and nurture growing talents.

This includes trailblazing collaborations with world leaders in the performing arts and STEAM. In collaboration with The Juilliard School, we offer the highest quality drama and music education, preparing our students for the international stage. Our STEAM programme, which has been specifically designed by MIT, opens our students’ eyes to the possibilities of science, technology, engineering, arts, and maths, encouraging teamwork, communication, and critical thinking.

From Year 2, our students go on overnight adventures at camps in Hungary and across the globe. Your child will visit some amazing places, enjoying outdoor activities that build their confidence, resilience, and sense of independence. Students can also take part in once-in-a-lifetime Nord Anglia expeditions to Tanzania and Switzerland, as well as The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.

An ever-changing line-up of co-curricular activities engage, challenge, and excite our students, too. From sports, science, and social impact to journalism, debating, and the creative arts, there really is something for everyone.

In everything they do, our specialist pastoral care team – which includes counsellors and safeguarding experts – will make sure your child is looked after and supported.

The Nord Anglia Education family

We’re incredibly proud of our inclusive international family of students, parents, and teachers. Stepping through our campus gates, you’ll instantly feel the happy, vibrant atmosphere that BISB is renowned for.

Our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is the beating heart of our community. Whether you’re new to Budapest – or just new to our school – our PTA will quickly help you get settled. They also act as an important link between home and school, as well as organising social gatherings, coffee mornings, and charitable events.

Our open-door policy fosters open and honest communication. Weekly newsletters, learning showcases, community events, and progress consultations will keep you informed. Our Parent Academy webinars are a great way to get expert information, too, covering topics from parent-child relationships and child psychology to teaching methodologies.

One of the many benefits of being a Nord Anglia Education school is the connections our students build across the world. On our Global Campus learning platform, your child will take part in exciting projects and collaborate with friends from 32 countries. In school, our students and teachers are members of one of our four Houses – Calypso, Endeavour, Discovery, and Kontiki – nurturing friendships and providing a strong sense of community across the age groups.

Our social purpose
Through life-changing local and global opportunities, your child will become a socially responsible citizen who makes a genuine difference to the lives of others.

Our social purpose

At BISB, we empower our students to stand up for what they believe in. Your child will use their courage, determination, and skills to change things for the better, getting involved in hands-on community projects and international action.

Our Year 10 students, for example, raise money and campaign on behalf of local charities that support homeless people in our city. This increases their understanding of an important issue and fosters a sense of social and civic responsibility.

Your child will also explore global concerns – including climate change and the UN Rights of the Child – through our exclusive collaboration with UNICEF. They’ll have the chance to join forces with students from across Nord Anglia at the High Level Political Forum in New York, where they’ll contribute to workshops and seminars, and speak up on the issues that matter – influencing leaders and making the world a better place.

In school, our Student Councils and committees give their friends a voice and improve how we function as a community. Our Social Impact Student Union is a force for good, taking action to make BISB more socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable. And through our mentor programme, our IGCSE and IBDP students become role models for their peers, teaching our younger children how to read and providing a friendly face for those who need someone to talk to.

Advanced learning environments

Situated just 20 minutes from Budapest city centre – yet fringed by verdant natural spaces – our purpose-built campus is the ideal environment to learn and grow.

Your child will make the most of our inspirational surroundings, where they’ll play, relax, and recharge, looking after their physical and emotional wellbeing. This includes outdoor socialising areas, an organic garden, and imaginatively designed play equipment, including our much-loved big red bus. Our younger students connect with nature at our Forest School, too.

Our specialist learning spaces, which include state-of-the-art science labs, a music technology suite, and modern theatre, support our world-leading performing arts and STEAM programmes. We have two Astroturf pitches, two gymnasiums, and indoor and outdoor courts, which inspire athletes of all abilities to try new sports and get moving. And in our library – which is stocked with more than 25,000 books – our students read, research, and study with friends.

Innovation flourishes here, too, where the latest education technology (EdTech) is seamlessly embedded into teaching and learning. iPads, robotics, and 3D printers deliver truly 21st century learning experiences, increasing student engagement and accelerating their development.
