Over the weekend, 5 brave students from Year 8 took their seats as delegates at the second Nord Anglia MUN (Model United Nations) for Key Stage 3. The event was held against the backdrop of the UN in Geneva. The students visited the UN on Friday morning to give them a flavour for the debates planned over the weekend. On Saturday morning, the MUN was convened and the students gave their Opening Speeches in committees such as the Security Council, Human Rights, UNICEF, Environment Council and ECOSOC. As the day progressed, the debates got deeper around the theme of the rights of the child leading to the drafting of resolutions. On Sunday morning, an emergency general assembly was summoned and the students were called on to find a peaceful resolution to a global crisis. The students rose to the occasion and a crisis was averted. All students received certificates of participation for their outstanding performances: Anya Khelifi-Coates, Luna Potoradi, Max Strohmayer, Uma Vajzovic and Annamaria Wirtz, who also received a certificate for open-mindedness.
