What a busy and rewarding week it has been for our BISB community!

1. Wine & Cheese Night

Our annual Wine & Cheese Night was a real highlight. Parents, teachers, and staff gathered together for a relaxed evening filled with great conversations, plenty of laughter, and of course, some great wine and food. It was wonderful to see so many of you there enjoying yourselves. Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the evening such a success, it was a true reminder of the spirit of our community.

This event was proudly sponsored and led by the PTA. A thank you to our Events Coordinator, Sophia, and her team for their hard work in bringing the evening together so beautifully.

Did you know? This year’s event was hosted in the elegant Vadrozsa Villa, once owned by Hungarian actor S.Z. Szakall, who is best known for his role in the classic film Casablanca, a touch of Hollywood history right here in Budapest!

2. Parent Academy

We had a great turnout for this session of the Parent Academy, Helping Your Child Without Taking Over. It was a truly valuable workshop for parents. A big thank you to Anne and Kim (our School Counsellors) and to Louise for leading the discussion and sharing such helpful insights. We also appreciate Craig for bringing us back to the basics and adding his perspective to the session.

For those who couldn’t attend, the workshop will be available on Firefly, we encourage you to have a look, especially if you weren’t able to join us on the day.

3. Teachers’ Day

Teachers’ Day was celebrated in true BISB style. The staff were met with a colourful spread of delicious homemade and store-bought goodies, and the gesture was truly appreciated. The smiles, gratitude, and joy shared that day showed just how much these small acts mean.

A big thank you to Livia and Luna for leading the charge, and to the amazing parents who came late on Thursday evening to decorate the Bistro, as well as the early birds who arrived on Friday morning to set everything up. Another big thank you goes to all the parents who baked, brought, and delivered such a variety of delicious treats.

It was a truly wonderful way to show our appreciation and celebrate our teachers. We’ll be sharing more details and photos in next week’s newsletter.

4. Chairperson Nominations

Nominations are now open for the role of PTA Chairperson. At present, Lissa Berlouis has been nominated, and parents will have the chance to vote and confirm their choice at the EGM on Thursday, 9th October, at 8:45am.

The PTA is made up of all of us, and your involvement is what keeps it strong, welcoming, and supportive. We look forward to seeing many of you there to take part in this important step together.

5. Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM)

Looking ahead, please mark your calendars: our Extraordinary General Meeting will be held on Thursday, 9th October, at 8:45am. During this meeting, we’ll confirm the new Chairperson and continue to plan for the exciting months ahead. We warmly encourage parents to attend and be part of this important moment in our PTA journey.

6. Coffee Morning Parent Support:

A gentle reminder that our monthly Parent Support Coffee Morning will take place on Tuesday, 6th May at 9:00am in the Dining Room.
