Kirsty Deathe is our Senior Leader for Key Stage 2.
Some people dream of having their name up in lights and some dream of scoring the winning touchdown, but the children of BISC Lincoln Park, on Monday mornings, dream of being ‘Author of the Week’!
‘Author of the Week’ is a weekly celebration of writing! Writing that deserves to be framed in not just one place in the school but two! The selected authors from each year group in the school have their name read out in assembly and are awarded a special pencil in recognition of their ambitious and excellent efforts. I have the pleasure of being one of the lucky teachers who hand out these rewards and the most precious moment is when the children hear their name announced. Their smiles of pride and their enthusiastic walk (sometimes gallop!) to the front of the assembly is a joy to witness and clearly shows how much they value this special moment.
Writing is not easy, but the ambitious efforts from the children are fantastic. They know how to strive for their best and it means so much to them to do well. How wonderful that they have determination and passion so early on in their education!
Having a celebration each week of their efforts is a great reminder to us all that ambition costs nothing yet can achieve a priceless gift: pride.
