BISC-LP Presents Willy Wonka Jr.!

The Performing Arts department is buzzing at the moment with preparations for the upcoming delicious adventures in Willy Wonka Jr., an adaption of Roald Dahl’s fantastical tale. The students have been rehearsing hard and they are so excited about showcasing this wonderful musical on March 23rd at the Royal George Theater on Halsted.

Not only have the performers been rehearsing their singing, dancing and acting, but the props team have also been busy making set pieces to delight our eyes. From giant candy to squirrel nuts, floating creatures and even a boat!

Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka Jr. follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whoever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable young Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of her equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka's rules in the factory – or suffer the consequences.

We spoke to Willy Wonka himself, played by Year 6 student Ben M. When asked about his favorite part of the rehearsal process he said, “I love when everybody memorizes their lines and the show comes together.” He told us that he can’t wait to perform the song ‘There’s no Knowing’

If you haven’t bought tickets yet you can choose the 1st performance at 1 p.m. or the 2nd performance at 4 p.m. Just click on the link below and you can join us on this magical adventure as we go to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory.
