Beyond the Classroom

Beyond the Classroom - Beyond the Classroom
Celebrating Cross-Campus Success!
Throughout the year, we have the privilege and delight of highlighting and celebrating student achievements both inside the classroom and beyond! We’re excited to kick-off this year’s ‘Beyond the Classroom’ blog series with two success stories across both the BISC Lincoln Park (BISC-LP) and BISC South Loop (BISC-SL) campuses.

Student athletes at BISC-LP and down at BISC-SL have a lot to be proud of at the start of the school year! Jack Bartlett, Athletics Director at BISC-SL recently entered students into the Raven Run cross-country event in Evanston, Illinois. Among the Middle and High School competitors were BISC-SL Year 8 student Francesca M. who finished with a brilliant 6th spot out of 82 in her category as a younger student for her bracket. In addition, Francesca’s brother Andrew, a Year 6 student at BISC-LP entered as an older Primary school competitor. His fantastic abilities earned him the big win in his category for the Middle School Boys 1 Mile. He finished in 1st place out of 106 competitors!

They plan to enter one more cross-country event this season, which will hopefully lead to more wins in Primary and Secondary!

While student athletes are racing to the finish line, Girls Scout Troops across campuses are tasting sweet success with their Annual Smart Cookies event at Café Brauer. Our BISC-LP Troop and the BISC-SL troop joined forces in their first fund-raising event together and raised $1,850 for the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana (GCNWI) council.

Misse Daniel, parent of Year 7 student, Francesca J. shared, “it was delightful to have both Girl Scout Troops come together for their first volunteer event.”  Next up, the girls will continue to work together on collecting Halloween candy to donate to a local food pantry. Ms. Daniel adds, "It's a service project that has been in place for years at Lincoln Park and we're delighted to bring it to the South Loop campus."

The school year has only just begun, and we are looking forward to celebrating more exciting student achievements. Please be on the lookout for more Beyond the Classroom blogs in the coming months!

We invite members of our community to share their success stories with us! Please email us at: communications@bischicagolp.org so we can help you celebrate your student.
