1. How does it feel to be recognised by IMG Academy for the Most Valuable Player Award?
I feel really grateful and honoured to be recognised by Carlton Qiu and Yan Li at IMG Academy as the Most Valuable Player. I know how much this award means because it’s not something they give to just anyone. IMG Academy is one of the most competitive places for sports, where some of the best athletes train. Being given the opportunity to join their summer camps is such an amazing experience, and I’m really excited about everything I’ll learn and how much I’ll grow as a player.
2. How important is volleyball, and playing sports in general, to you?
Volleyball means so much to me because I’ve been playing it for six years, and it’s truly become part of my identity. What started as something fun quickly turned into a passion that’s driven me to grow, both as an athlete and as a person. Playing sports has taught me the value of hard work, teamwork, and perseverance. It’s also given me lifelong friendships and opened doors to opportunities I never imagined. Without volleyball and sports, I wouldn’t be the person I am today, and for that, I’m incredibly grateful.
3. How would you describe your learning experience at BISS?
My learning experience at BISS has been great, both in school and in sports. At first, especially in volleyball, it was hard to adapt because the training here felt a bit different from what I was used to in the US. Back there, things were more intense and focused on competition, while here it’s more about building the basics. It took some time to adjust, but BISS made it easier by offering resources like CFT Volleyball, led by Coach Fu, outside of school. That really helped me keep improving and feel more confident. As for school, I think the teachers at BISS are really good. They give you lots of resources and support to do well, and I’m super grateful for that.
4. How do you think the extracurricular opportunities at BISS are helping to shape you as a person?
The extracurricular activities at BISS have really helped me grow, especially as a volleyball player. Between our school team and the CFT Volleyball club, I’ve had so much support, and it’s helped me improve a lot. But it’s not just about the sport - these opportunities have also made me a more socialable person. I’ve been able to meet and interact with people I wouldn’t have otherwise, like students from different year groups and even from other schools. It’s been a great way to build confidence and connect with others.
5. Looking to the future, what are your plans after BISS?
After BISS, I plan to attend university either in the US or Europe. I’m still not completely sure what I want to study yet, but I’m interested in business and maybe something related to politics. I also hope to have the chance to continue playing volleyball after I graduate - whether it’s at a college level or even just joining a local club.
