This week the children have been learning about 3D shapes.
We began the week with a shape hunt, where we walked around school to see which 3D shapes we could spot. We worked collaboratively with our friends to spot the objects around school which looked like 3D shapes and we had to be fluent thinkers and describe to our partner what properties these objects had using the words faces, vertices and edges. After this we had great fun by building objects using 3D shapes. We built castles and cars and some of us even built rockets. Following this we thought of different ways we could sort 3D shapes into groups. We worked in groups and used our connection finding skills to think about what properties shapes had in common, such as shapes with square faces and shapes without square faces.
We have really enjoyed learning about 3D shapes this week!
