This week in Pre-Nursery, the children had an absolute blast taking part in STEAM Week—a brilliant chance to explore, create, and discover through lots of exciting, hands-on activities designed to spark their natural curiosity and imagination.
One of the highlights of the week was our colourful tie-dye session using handkerchiefs. The children loved experimenting with different fabric dyes and watching the colours blend together to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind patterns. It was great fun and also a lovely way for them to learn how colours mix and spread.
We also had a go at making our own versions of Starry Night, inspired by the famous painting. Using cotton buds and a mix of colours, the children created their own swirling night skies—an enjoyable activity that encouraged both creativity and fine motor skills.
On the science side of things, the children explored simple experiments like floating and sinking, and colouring ice. They made predictions about which items would float or sink, then tested them out and chatted about what they observed. These activities were a fun way to introduce early science ideas while getting them to think, watch closely, and talk about what was happening.
All in all, STEAM Week was a fantastic opportunity for our Pre-Nursery children to learn through play, creativity, and hands-on discovery. We’re already looking forward to more weeks full of fun and learning!
